Research and development, based on the extensive technologies and expertise cultivated over many years in the mining industry, incorporates advanced approaches and contributes to the creation of a prosperous future society.

Our R&D Department aims to contribute to the creation of a prosperous future society by incorporating advanced approaches into its research and development based on the extensive technologies and expertise cultivated over many years in the mining industry.

We select themes that contribute to the development of our business segments, including mineral resources, metal resources, machinery, and the environment, and focus intensively on them to achieve results effectively and with a sense of speed. In addition, we actively deepen collaborations with universities and research institutions, introducing the latest technologies and integrating them with our in-house technologies.
Furthermore, we are accelerating research and development aimed at carbon neutrality, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and hydrogen recovery.

In the Nonmetallic Minerals Field of the Mineral Resources Business, we are engaged in developing technologies for improving mining operations through DX and AI—specifically optical data processing and machine learning for ore identification and impurity removal —as well as conducting physical property measurements of various ores and component analysis of environmental samples.
In the Metals Resources Field, our other main pillar, we are engaged in research and development of ore beneficiation technologies aimed at the efficient extraction and effective utilization of metal resources. These include optimizing copper recovery through flotation at copper mines and using AI-based operational forecasting, as well as improving copper recovery from sulfide ores through an addictive-assisted copper leaching process.

In the Machinery Business Field, we are engaged in research and development of machinery products centered on the Sinter Lamellar Filter, which enables highly efficient dust collection. Our focus is to develop new manufacturing technologies for high-performance, low-cost filter elements through resin sintering simulations.

In the Environmental Engineering Field, we are conducting research and development of environmental products centered on the inorganic coagulant POLYTETSU. Our focus is to establish efficient production technologies for POLYTETSU, derived from iron oxide–based raw materials, as a new environmentally friendly resource.

In the New Materials Field, we are engaged in research and development of novel functional materials using Nanostrata. Nanostrata is a thin-film coating technology that enables coating on particle surfaces in environmentally friendly aqueous solutions.

In the Carbon Neutral Field, we are conducting research and development toward a low-carbon society, including hydrogen recovery from hydrogen sulfide using photocatalysts, as well as carbon dioxide sequestration using in lime-based byproducts and the utilization of the solidified materials.
